Description
Flowers: Sept-Oct. Plant in moist, part shade. HxS 2mx1m
A ‘must-have’ for a woodland garden or a waterside situation. The deeply dissected purple leaves emerge in late spring and the dark stems contrast wonderfully with arching spikes of scented, white to cream flowers, which start flowering in early autumn. The multiple stems can reach 5ft with the flowers being carried as terminal racemes. No staking is required and the species is easy to grow as well as being pest and disease resistant. Best planted in a moist soil which does not water log in winter. A good late season pollinator. Pot size 1.5 litre.
Care & Maintenance.
Cut back the flower stems after flowering. The foliage collapses after the first hard frost and can be tidied in autumn or spring. Propagate by seed or division in spring.
