Description
Does not flower. Plant in part or full shade. HxS 1mx50cm
Dryopteris filix-mas is a native, male fern that is very robust and deciduous with shuttlecock-like tufts of lance-shaped fronds that turn copper in autumn. Filix-mas forms wither at the first frosts although the old foliage does give winter interest. Easy in sheltered conditions in part or full shade. Will grow in full sun if given plenty of moisture. AGM. Hardiness rating H7. Pot size 1.5 litre.
Care & Maintenance.
Remove old foliage in spring, which is the best time to divide the plant. Wood ferns need very little attention.
