Polystichum set. ‘Herrenhausen’, also known as the Soft Shield Fern, is more leathery and a much darker green than the species, with spreading, lance shaped tripinnate fronds, giving it a very lacy appearance.  It is evergreen and lime tolerant.  This is a German selection which comes true from spores so may be a long lost older cultivar.  Easy and fully hardy, this fern provides excellent winter interest.  Pot size 9cm.

Care & Maintenance.

Removed damaged or tatty fronds in spring.  Propagate by division or spores.
