Description

Flowers: April-May.  Plant in part shade or woodland.  HxS 30x30cm

The leaves and flowers emerge straight from the rhizome in early spring. The eight petalled, showy white flowers are ephemeral and only last a few weeks until the tree canopy appears. The fruit which follows is a green pear-shaped capsule with a hinged top. Large leaves are nearly divided in half from which it gets its common name of twinleaf.  As with many other deciduous forest plants, the seeds are dispersed by ants. Pot size 9cm/1 litre.

Care & Maintenance.
