Astrantia maj. Gill Richardson Group is a clump forming Astrantia with erect stems up to 90cm tall producing umbels of tiny, crimson-red flowers surrounded by red-tipped bracts above dark-green leaves in summer. Prefers a moist soil. The long lasting summer blooms make an interesting cut flower. Hardiness zone H7. Pot size 1.5 litre.
Care & Maintenance.
Cut back hard in early spring and apply a mulch. Astrantia are greedy but flower beautifully if fed. Divide every four to five years. Propagate by division in spring. Deadhead regularly to prolong flowering.
