Greater Spearwort has broad glossy leaves with handsome, yellow buttercup-like flowers up to 5cm/2in across.  It is native to the UK and good for covering unsightly liners at the edges of ponds, although equally happy on banks or in wet meadows or bogs.  It has a creeping habit and roots at nodes so is easily controlled.  It is an excellent pollinator plant. Planting depth in water to 15cm/6″.

Care & Maintenance.

Tidy up old foliage in early spring.  Propagate by division, pulling apart the clumps or sow seed fresh in autumn.  Easy and reliable, with no pests or diseases.
