Description
Flowers: July-August. Plant in sun or light shade. HxS 1.5mx1m
This very attractive hardy perennial from North China is grown for its towering spires of yellow, daisy-like flowers held above dramatic dark purple-green stems. The leaves are also striking, large and deeply cut, with a slightly feathery appearance, turning purple from mid-August. This deciduous perennial will spread to cover a large area and provides excellent groundcover for sunny, permanently moist areas of the garden. It is best protected from really hot midday sun and we grow it as a marginal to avoid slug damage!
Care & Maintenance.
Remove old foliage in spring and split plants every three or four years to maintain vigour. May be divided after flowering or collect and sow seed.
