Flowers: June-July.  Plant in light shade.  HxS  60x60cm

A compact form of the North American water iris, preferring a partially shaded position and having red-purple flowers in early summer (much more red when seen against Iris versicolor).  The falls have a central white flash, veined purple.  This iris is suitable for small or shallow ponds and it is attractive to damsel and dragonflies and can also be grown as a waterside or bog plant.  Organically grown in peat free compost.

Care & Maintenance.

Remove old foliage in spring and split plants every three or four years to maintain vigour.  May be divided after flowering or collect and sow seed. Planting depth in a pond 8cm/3” (top of pot to water surface).
