Description

Flowers: September to March.  Plant in part shade.  HxS 75x60cm

There are 65 species of Hesperantha, native to South Africa.  This is a very pale pink blush hybrid opening from deeper pink buds.  It flowers well throughout mild winters and can brighten up a dull corner.  We find it grows best in a moisture retentive soil in part or full shade.  It is semi-evergreen and will flower through frost and light snow, the flowers perking up as they thaw!  Pest and disease resistant.  Formerly called Schizostylis but has had a name change.

Care and Maintenance.

Tidy tatty leaves and old flower stems in spring.  Deadheading by removing old flower stems to their base will prolong flowering.  Propagate by division in May-June as the new year’s growth emerges.
