Flowers: April-May.  Plant in part shade or woodland.  HxS 30x30cm

This north American species of Shooting Star is very hardy, with stately umbels of pink-purple, reflexed flowers in tall spires held above the light green leaves. The leaves look a bit weedy, so take care if non-gardeners weed your plot!  Dodecatheons are best grown in a moist soil and are good in woodland conditions.  This plant is late summer dormant in August or September, re-emerging in early spring.  Hardiness rating H5.  Pot size 1 litre.

Care & Maintenance.

Propagate by seed or division.  Seed should be sown freshly in autumn, whilst divisions are best taken in early spring as growth commences.
