A rarely offered species from North America, preferring rich moist soil in cool conditions. It is tolerant of sun provided the soil is wet. Masses of purple-white flower spikes on tall purple stems held clear of the foliage in early summer. Lacy grey-green foliage. Forms a dense clump given the right conditions.
