Tolerant of dry shade once established this native plant has glossy evergreen leaves. Small unobtrusive brown flowers are found at the base of the plant in spring. The roots smell of ginger and the leaves appear quite oily in hot weather. Excellent groundcover in shady areas under trees or shrubs and requires little or no maintenance.
