Aquilegia vulgaris var. stellata 'Black Barlow'
£3.95
Common Name: Granny's Bonnet
Flowering Period: May-June
UK Native? No - garden origin
Pot Size: 1.5 litre

(5-7 sun/part shade)   75x45cm

The double, dark blue-black flowers are held on tall stems and persist much longer than single flowered aquilegias. They like a moist but free-draining soil and ours grow particularly well in a north facing situation. Being transparent they are seldom affected by strong winds. Easy and will seed about when happy. They associate well with white Alliums and look good mixed with other Aquilegias. Cut hard back after flowering.

This plant was added to our catalogue on Friday 16 June, 2006.

Customer Comments!

Just to say thank you very much. The plants arrived - all good and healthy - lovingly packed and all present and correct. May I congratulate you on your service and the quality of your plants. A number of mail order firms send out tired plants with half the root mass as yours have - or send out tiny little specimens that dont weather the transportation nearly as well as bigger plants. Well done! MH (Mar 2011)
