Actaea simplex 'Atropurpurea Group'
£6.50
Common Name: Cimicifuga
Flowering Period: August-October
UK Native? No - Eastern Asia
Pot Size: 1.5/2 litre

(9 -10 moist part shade)   2mx1m

A 'must-have' for a woodland garden or a site near water. The deeply dissected purple leaves emerge in late spring and the dark stems contrast wonderfully with arching spikes of scented white to cream flowers, which start flowering in early autumn. The multiple stems can reach 5ft with the flowers being carried as terminal racemes. No staking is required and the species is easy to grow and and pest resistant.

Best in a moist soil which does not waterlog in winter.

Care and maintenance: Cut back the flower stems after flowering. The foliage collapses after the first frost and can be tidied in autumn or spring. Propagate by seed or division in spring.

Customer Comments!

When you buy plants by mail order there is an element of trust involved and I just wanted to say that I am very impressed with the service that Penlan Perennials provide. The website and online ordering system is well thought out and efficient and the speed with which the plants are despatched and delivered is excellent. The plants are all exactly as you promised and all have a good root system and look strong and healthy. NF, Devon, September 2006
